Boot care
Give your Blundstones the love they deserve! While our boots are designed to last, it's vital that you care for them to help prolong their life and lustre.

Our boots are made from leathers with various finishes, suede, nubuck and canvas.

Each needs specific care to keep it clean. Follow our tips below to care for your Blundstone boots.

Leather
• First, remove any caked dirt with a soft bristled brush or damp cloth, and leave your boots to air dry away from direct sunlight and heaters, which could dry out the leather.

• Apply leather polish, spray or cream. If using a polish for the first time, try it on an inconspicuous area of the boot to check whether it alters the colour or appearance.

• If using polish, apply a small amount to a polishing cloth or brush and rub onto the shoe with a circular motion.

• Wipe away the residue and leave to dry.

Suede
• Use a suede brush to scrub off any surface stains or dirt.

• Remove scuff marks by simply rubbing with a gum eraser, wiping away the rubber debris.

• Dampen a suede brush with a little water and a small amount of suede and leather cleaner and clean the shoe, focusing on stains.

• Dab shoes with a clean towel to remove any excess moisture and leave to air dry.

• Once dry, apply a water and stain repellent spray; some suedes are best treated prior to wearing, if not pre-treated.

• Waterproof boots regularly to protect leather from staining. Allow wet leather to dry naturally before cleaning or applying cleaning substances.

Nubuck
• Use a dry nubuck cloth to remove any surface dirt. Then brush gently with a nubuck brush in a circular motion. Do not spend more than a few seconds on any area.

• Remove scuff marks by simply rubbing with a gum eraser and wiping away the rubber debris, or use a spray-on nubuck cleaning solution, then wipe the area with a nubuck cloth. Always follow product instructions and test on a small area prior to use.

• Dab shoes with a clean towel to remove any excess moisture and leave to air dry.

• Apply a nubuck water and stain repellent.

• Waterproof boots regularly to protect leather from staining. Allow wet leather to dry naturally before cleaning or applying cleaning substances.

Canvas
• Scrub away any patches of dirt with a soft bristled brush or an old toothbrush.

• Dip a cloth or soft bristled brush into warm water and clean the entire surface of the boot.

• Leave boots to air dry, stuffed with tissue paper to maintain their shape .

• Never put canvas Blundstones in a tumble dryer, as they may shrivel, damaging the sole.

Extra tips
• Never dry your boots by an open fire or artificial heat source, as this will cause the leather to harden, shrink and crack, and even to pull away from the sole. Always air dry boots naturally, at room temperature.

• Always store your boots in a well-ventilated, cool place away from sunlight and heat.

• Apply leather conditioner whenever necessary, for instance if your boots are looking a little scuffed and worn.

• Similarly, use suede protector on suede boots when they are looking worn, and before wearing them on a rainy or sunny day.

• Do not expose boots to chemicals: solvents, strong acids and alkalis will do irreparable damage to leather, and even commonplace substances like milk and salt can be damaging. In the event of exposure, clean your boots immediately.

• You should only use good quality cleaning substances specific to the material of your boots.
